UDN WEEKLY NEWSLETTER 449th EDITION 2025

We are pleased to share the newsletter from the recently concluded Open Budget Survey (OBS) Workshop, organized in partnership with UNICEF Uganda. The workshop brought together key parliamentary committees, government representatives, and stakeholders to discuss Uganda’s 2023 OBS performance and explore ways to enhance budget oversight, transparency, and public participation.

Key Highlights from the Workshop:
📌 Uganda ranked 44th globally in budget transparency, leading East Africa with a score of 59%.
📌 Legislative oversight scored 61%, while audit oversight stood at 78%.
📌 Key discussions focused on improving public participation, aligning budget priorities, and strengthening oversight throughout the budget cycle.
📌 Actionable recommendations were developed to improve Uganda’s OBS ranking and enhance fiscal governance.
