Uganda’s external debt increased from UGX 53.191 trillion in FY 2022/23 to UGX 54.365 trillion in FY 2023/24, reflecting a 2.2% growth. This rise is primarily driven by increased borrowing from multilateral creditors, while debt from commercial banks and bilateral lenders declined.
