Executive Director

Mr. Patrick Tumwebaze is a renowned professional in the civil society family with wide experience in NGO work. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration and Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and has over ten years’ professional experience in development work. He has previously provided leadership in strategy and program planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting. He maintains an effective organizational, administrative structure and networking system that clearly spell out responsibilities and roles of all stakeholders. Martha Nanjobe

Senior Programme Officer, Governance and Rights programme/Acting Director of Programmes

Martha Nanjobe is a lawyer by profession. She has a wide experience in civil society work having worked with the Legal Aid project and Advocates for Public International Law Uganda. She is responsible for coordinating the Governance and Rights programme and initiating anti-corruption campaigns. Imelda Namagga -

Programme Officer, Budget Advocacy Initiative

Ms Namagga works closely with the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MFPED), Parliament and other UDN stakeholders to help establish and operate an open and prudent budget management system at national and local government level. She holds an MA in Economic Policy Management and BSc (Quantitative Economics). Mukotani Rugyendo -

 

Mukotani Rugyendo is the Senior Advocacy and Communications Officer in the Civil Society Capacity Building Programme. He holds a B.A. (First Class Hons) degree (1973) and a Diploma in Journalism (1980). As Head of the CSO Capacity Building Programme, his responsibilities comprise the following: supporting the development of programme policies and strategies, including the preparation of plans and budgets; liaising with other programmes to organize and mobilize various stakeholders to access the programme’s products; steering the programme to develop it into a self-sustaining entity; developing strategies to strengthen CSO effectiveness and credibility; contributing to the compilation and production of UDN and general CSO capacity building information materials; editing and overseeing production of all UDN’s advocacy publications and ensuring quality control in advocacy materials; and, guiding implementation and updating of UDN’s Communication Strategy. Pauline Apolot -

Programme Officer, Community Participation and Empowerment

Ms. Apolot works with the communities in the different districts using the Community Based Monitoring and Evaluation System (CBMES) as a tool to empower the poor and marginalized people at the grassroots in monitoring and evaluation of quality and delivery of services, and influencing policy processes at local levels. This tool facilitates citizens’ participation in tracking and assessing government expenditure, service delivery and influences key poverty reduction strategies in Uganda. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management and a Master’s Degree in Development Studies. Rukia Nakamatte Mbaziira -

Communications Officer

Mrs. Mbaziira is responsible for UDN internal and external lobby and publicity events. She writes and edits the weekly electronic newsletter and maintains an interactive organization website. She possesses commendable information management knowledge and a high sense of creativity and innovativeness. She has written and edited various publications locally and internationally and has designed a variety of advocacy magazines. Finance Officer

 

Brenda Oyulu Otyek

Programme Officer Community Participation and Empowerment

Ms. Oyulu is a development analyst with wide experience in implementation of community based programmes. She assists programme staff in execution of their duties and undertakes field based activities to collect progress reports to disseminate information to UDN stakeholders. She participates in undertaking research and analysis of policy advocacy work for effective implementation of UDN programmes. She works with the local communities using the Community Based Monitoring and Evaluation System (CBMES) as a tool to empower the poor and marginalized people at the grassroots in monitoring and evaluating the quality of government programmes. Maureen Agaba -

Programme Assistant, Governance and Rights Programme

Ms. Agaba works closely with programme officers to provide support for timely implementation and quality reporting to all UDN constituents of programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation. She is responsible for maintaining an affective networking and relationship with UDN stakeholders in the Governance and Rights Programme. She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Public Administration and Management and a Bachelors degree in Development Studies. She possesses five years working experience in conducting field based research and advocacy work in promoting good governance and accountability among public officials. Jude Tadeo Odaro -

Programme Assisatnt, Community Participation and Empowerment

Mr. Odaro assists programme staff with field work related activities. He assists the Community Participation and Empowerment programme in carrying out research on government programmes. He collects pertinent information materials from various sources to beef up UDN advocacy work. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Development Studies from Makerere University and a Diploma in Education. Accounts Assistant/Human Resource Officer

Ms. Mufumba manages the human resources of the organisation and coordinates with the finance and accounts office to ensure that administrative and logistical needs are mearnt in time. Suzan takes over the responsibility of the administrative secretary in her absence. She is also in charge of photocopying, binding and developing a full record of persons and copies made by staff. She also helps programme staff in preparing field and workshops materials.
