Community Based Monitoring Local
community members monitor the quality and delivery of services and the
accountability for funds that are released by government for poverty
eradication programmes using the community based monitoring and evaluation
system (CBMES) methodology.
·
Policy and Socio-Economic Research
UDN regularly analyses the policies that are formulated for poverty
reduction. The findings are used to make an input into policy design and
planning at various levels. UDN regularly provides inputs to macro
economic policies designed by the Ministry of Finance, Planning and
Economic Development and other line ministries and departments.
·
Budget Advocacy Initiative
UDN supports and implements a Budget Advocacy Initiative (BAI) aimed at
increasing the participation of poor people in budget policy formulation.
UDN annually carries out an analysis and review of the national budget and
its implications for the poverty situation in Uganda.
·
Governance and Rights
Public accountability and transparency are the hallmark of good
governance. UDN recognises its role and mandate in this element is
derived from the constitution of the Republic of Uganda 1995 that under
Article 38 provides that "Every Ugandan has a right to participate in
peaceful activities to influence policies of government through civic
organizations".
